About Me
I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Brigham Young University, a Master’s degree in Adolescent Risk and Prevention from Harvard University, and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Boston University. I completed a pre-doctoral internship at The Child Study Center in New York City and a post-doctoral fellowship at the Evidence Based Treatment Centers of Seattle and the University of Washington.
In addition to my individual clinical work in private practice, I enjoy giving talks and trainings for school-based mental health providers, school staff, parents, and church groups. I conduct clinical research at the University of Washington focusing on the development and implementation of school-based mental health services. In this capacity, I provide trainings and clinical consultation for school based mental health providers in Washington and throughout the United States and Canada.
Prior to becoming a psychologist, I was a high school teacher and counselor in several large urban high schools in the Boston Public Schools. I had the opportunity to work with adolescents struggling with emotional, social, psychological and academic difficulties (i.e. violence, homelessness, court involvement, gang involvement, domestic violence, trauma, truancy, family distress). During this time, I also created and worked with several school, community, and church-based programs to help meet the psychosocial and academic needs of youth in Boston and surrounding communities.
